One of the richest prizes in poker a field of 746 players anted up the AUD$10,500 buy-in for the ‘Main Event’ creating a prize pool of AUD$7.46 million with $2m going to the winner.
Played over five days the field was whittled down to a final table of eight. Notable amongst them was Sorel Mizzi the Canadian online prodigy and Annette Obrestad who exploded onto the poker scene when she won the WSOP Europe main event the day before her 19th birthday and taking $2m home for her troubles.
